The Center for Intercultural Dialogue supports and promotes interdisciplinary approaches to transcultural studies and interreligious dialogue as a means to promote peace. The Center works to engage students, faculty and community members in efforts to build a global community through education and dialogue that transcends cultural, religious, and geopolitical boundaries.

The Center for Intercultural Dialogue was established in 2008 at the University of Oregon under the direction of Steven Shankman, UNESCO Chair for Transcultural Studies, Interreligious Dialogue and Peace. The Center’s affiliation with UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) and the UNITWIN network on Interreligious Dialogue for Intercultural Understanding allows us to facilitate conversations and collaborations between the University of Oregon, Pacific Northwest, and international communities.
